Mini Camp #7 Intervalactic!

Open enrollment to anyone ages 4+, no prior musical lessons necessary! What is an Interval? It's the distance between two notes-and it's a HUGE part of being able to read music-arguably even more important that knowing the note names! It's especially valuable for singers and brass players, and is one of the things that helps young brains develop amazing connections that help them in many different subject areas when they can correlate that notes LOOK a certain distance apart and SOUND a certain distance apart (and even better is when they can FEEL how far apart they are when they play on a piano keyboard). This camp has a Space Themed approach to to reading intervals along with several games to reinforce what those intervals look like. Please arrive to pick up your child(ren) 15 minutes prior to the ending time for "Show Off!" where there will be either a demonstration, performance, or interactive demos where kids show their stuff. IMPORTANT: You MUST submit a separate registration form for EACH child participating. What is Summer Music Exploration? COMING SOON!

**SCROLL DOWN TO REGISTER FOR THE CAMPS AS THEY BECOME AVAILABLE. ALL MINI CAMPS FOR JUNE ARE AVAILABLE FOR REGISTRATION AS OF MAY 16**

This summer I am offering a series of Mini-Camps, once a week, each 90 minutes in length. These camps are open to ANYONE interested, geared towards ages 4-18 (adults are welcome to attend as a participant as well to bring out the inner-kid in you!). Each camp will focus on a different aspect of music education and taught with so many fun activities and games, it's anything but boring! It's the perfect way to supplement music lessons or give a jump-start to children considering music lessons, or just to have a really great time and learn some skills that will improve math reasoning by default! (Read about some amazing connections between Music and Math here.) Each camp will provide a snack and something to take home. Parents come the final 15 minutes of each camp for "Show Off" time, where there will be either a demonstration or exhibition of what was done that day.

No prior knowledge necessary! Even though there will be a wide variety of abilities present, each theme will be taught with differentiated instruction to accommodate everyone from those who have never been taught formally to the accomplished musician. "Tip of the Day: "Once a year, I remake my playing. This means I go back to the basics and examine everything that I am doing. I select a beginning method or tutor and begin on page one, pretending that I am learning the flute for the first time. I read all the instructions on each page, secretly hoping that I can find some unknown treasure that will help me improve my playing." Patricia George, Flute Talk, "The Teacher's Studio" March 2015"

In short, these camps are good for everyone!

General tuition is $10/student, to be paid at the door. You may also purchase a punch card of 3 camps for $25 which may be shared between siblings and used all at once, or by single students in subsequent weeks. Registration MUST be done through this website, completed no later than the day before the camp to ensure that there are enough supplies for every activity as well as enough snacks for everyone. Each camp is limited to 15 general students and 3 Teen Helpers (ages 12+). Teen Helpers have a discounted tuition ($5/camp) and are expected to arrive no later than 15 minutes early and stay at least 15 minutes after the end time. Teen Helpers will get to experience the teaching aspect of music to help them train to become the next generation of piano/music teachers!

Registration will open for each camp as dates/times are identified.

In the event that a certain camp fills up and there is enough interest, I am open to having additional sessions, so please comment below if a class is full that you want to attend!

All Camps will be located at my house in the back yard. Address will be provided upon registration if you need it.
